Senior Technical Designer

TRIA is seeking a SeniorTechnical Designer with 10+ years relevant experience in the following practice areas:

  • High Rise and Low Rise Multi-Family Residential (wood frame and steel)
  • Core-Shell for Office
  • Hospitality/Hotel
  • Campus Master Planning

Job Summary

The Senior Technical Designer provides oversight and support for the overall development and implementation of multiple architectural projects. This role reports to a Senior Project Manager. This most senior architect is responsible for technical solutions and technical delivery of project(s). This candidate will plan, develop, execute, and coordinate large scope, complex projects, concept through construction. In addition, this role oversees Project Architect(s) and staff of technicians. Other responsibilities include  that the designer  disseminates technical tasks, performs Consultant Coordination for subs as part of construction documents, manages technical QA/QC review for technical accuracy and coordination.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the Technical Project team, including consultants, to ensure timely completion and execution of client requested changes to scope, without delays and within budget. Advise project manager of any changes of scope.
  • Determines constructability of design alternatives and determines those alternatives most appropriate to project constraints significantly impact major company programs
  • Plans and develops architectural projects concerning unique and/or controversial complexities that
  • Determines the accuracy, completeness and clarity of all drawings and documents
  • Provide feedback during the consultant selection process and ensure alignment with architectural design that is consistent with project goals.
  • Conducts oversight of design staff scheduling.
  • Monitor design progress ahead of technical design, to solidify technical design goals.
  • Review client program and initial project goals to generate planning and design concepts.
  • Responsible for client communications throughout all phases of project.
  •  Review proposals, fees and advise on agreements.
  • Supports a positive environment by ensuring proper team structure that aligns with the appropriate skills needed.
  • Arrange meeting with QC reviewer to review comments and make corrective action plans

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates)

  • 10 + years relevant experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of construction drawings
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in programs including Revit, Sketch Up or 3D computer rendering, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Newforma, Prefer knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint and Bluebeam REVU
  • Comfortable with hand sketches
  • LEED AP & specialty encouraged
