Job Summary

As part of the project team, Designer 2 is responsible for assisting project team members in all phases of design including programming and planning, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Assists the project team in production of documents, development of presentations, and project coordination. Designer 2 staff are expected to work independently to complete assigned tasks. Designer 2 staff are expected to start to build consultant and vendor relationships and will assist in both in person and virtual client presentations. Designers must apply themselves to all phases and types of work the firm requires to deliver projects and understands all the sub disciplines and skills within the firm (workplace design, lab planning, etc.).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist document production with industry standard document delivery software, REVIT, Bluebeam, MS Office.
  • Work with project team members to produce design documents and presentation materials for client review.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of architectural designs for multiple projects
  • Generate 3D renderings.
  • Coordinate with vendors to learn about new product launches and to procure material samples.
  • Assist in selection of FF&E, lighting, and other interior and exterior and architectural products.
  • Take part in site and lab equipment survey and document survey findings in REVIT.
  • Assist in production of programming, planning documentation such as: room cards, adjacency diagrams etc. and lab design.
  • Produce construction drawings in REVIT under the direction of Project Designer/ Architect.
  • Incorporate Senior Team member red lines in a timely manner.
  • Adhere project schedule and deadlines.
  • Attend internal and external project/client meetings and take detailed notes at these meetings.
  • Research and keep up to date on the trends and innovative interior and architectural products.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining project library.
  • Generate fit plans and/or schematic plans under the direction of Senior Team.
  • Assist in submittal reviews, production of sketches for on site coordination, and assist in the overall Construction Administration process.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college/university or professional degree in architecture or interior design with 3-6 years of experience.
