Oncorus, Inc

Cambridge, MA
12,300 SF

At its founding, Oncorus took a 12,300 SF space for its headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

Our design team took a holistic approach to the office and lab design of Oncorus’ headquarters to create an efficient and flexible workspace that supports the company’s scientific research mission. Work stations along the window line allow natural light to penetrate deep into the space, and conference rooms on the interior feature glass walls to provide transparency. A conference room offers a wall-sized window to the lab, providing a view to the exciting discoveries taking place.

The design developed was one of vibrancy and heavy branding – a place where this biotech startup could put down roots.

Takeda

Cambridge, MA
10,000 SF

In order to see if a more open, collaborative office space would be beneficial to this client, this smaller space was built out to meet the new criteria before moving on to a larger, 180,000 SF project located at 300 Mass Ave in Cambridge, MA. Takeda challenged the design team to introduce the company to a true benching system, which would foster a new, dynamic way of working. In addition to benching, other new design strategies introduced were transparency, open ceilings, exposed concrete floors, and high-top collaboration zones. In the end, both the client and the design team learned much from the process, and the open workspace concept greatly benefited the entire team.

Takeda

Cambridge, MA
180,000 SF

One of the key drivers of this project was to create an open office space, much different from what currently existed on campus. To achieve this goal, minimal closed offices were constructed to maximize floor efficiency, access to natural light, and collaboration. A variety of multi-use spaces were created to foster different working styles such as telepresence rooms, “train cars”, and even an outdoor roof deck. Transparency from office to lab, and spreading the lab out across multiple floors instead of just one floor, allowed for a connectedness to the company’s core mission.

Biogen

Cambridge, MA
21,000 SF

This 21,000 square foot renovation focused on supporting Biogen’s initiatives of promoting team collaboration. The project was the first in a multi-phase two building renovation, during which a lab corridor was added to connect the two buildings. In addition, an expanded kitchenette/collaboration area between the buildings was built.

The design consisted of a 100% open office concept, along with an R&D (biology & immunology) lab program that included open lab and lab support. The transition zone between lab and office contained non-bookable phone and huddle rooms.

BIOMED REALTY BUILD TO SUIT FOR PRIVATE BIOTECH CLIENT

Tarrytown, NY
300,000 SF

The redesign of this company’s corporate headquarters involved a building overhaul in order to create consistency of branding throughout. The project scope included a re-design of building core and shell along with a build out of interior labs, offices, and amenity spaces. The design was meant to deliver a strong presence while also connecting an existing tenant building. Pedestrian bridges allow the end-users to easily move across the growing campus, while meeting spaces encourage collaboration.
